If you’ve driven past the Coffs Harbour Bypass lately, you’ve probably found yourself in awe. The scale of the project is mind-blowing. The coordination. The sheer amount of progress unfolding right in front of our eyes. But, behind all of that progress is something just as impressive: the work health and safety frameworks, processes and strategies that make it all possible.

We’re very excited to share our first event for 2026! The Coffs Harbour Bypass Work Health and Safety Manager, Leigh Mehmet, together with Transport for NSW WHS Manager, Jamie Tough will give a selected group of professionals a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how safety is being managed on one of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects.

This once in a lifetime experience will include:
• A two-hour briefing where Leigh and Jamie, along with a group of WHS Coordinators, will share an update on the bypass, best-practice approaches, practical insights, and the innovative things being done to keep people safe and meet WHS obligations on a complex, high-risk project.
• A guided bus tour through the bypass, providing participants with a firsthand look at the project in action.

  • Lunch and networking opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to bring real, large-scale WHS best practice directly to practitioners here on the Coffs Coast.
